Did you know that, in the first half of 2025 …

  • We launched a dedicated earthquake page and a social-media–based interactive map within hours of the earthquake.
  • Our curated newsletter helped responders and planners quickly see a summary of available reports and assessments.
  • 217 organisations were represented in the Feb 2025 round of the HDP Nexus 5W, which served as a baseline of active organisations on the ground just before the earthquake.
  • We maintained our training schedule, and 141 participants joined our trainings despite disruptions from the earthquake.
  • If you've engaged with any of these, thank you for being a dedicated user. We hope you found them useful. If not, don't worry. This MIMU Bulletin offers an in-depth, interactive overview of these activities that you can use through the rest of 2025.

This edition was developed as an interactive infographic, allowing you to explore the data in depth. If you prefer offline versions, you can also download the PDF infographics:

Second regular round of MIMU HDP Nexus 5W for 2025 has just started. We have reached out to agencies’ 5W focal persons for their voluntary contributions on activities and projects. Please consider contributing to this exercise as it enables organisations and donors to improve planning and targeting, ensuring that humanitarian, development, and peace-focused needs are met. If you have concerns about data security, please note that 5W data is shared only internally with contributing partners. Agencies can also choose to restrict access and determine the level of detail. For more information on our data protection measures, please visit our 5W page.

Please submit your inputs by 9 September 2025

If you experience any difficulties or require support with the process, we have prepared a number of virtual 5W Support Training Sessions in Myanmar Language. Interested organisations can register for one of the following sessions one day in advance through this link:

To mark World Humanitarian Day today, we’re highlighting the Cluster and Areas of Responsibility (AoR) resources hosted on the MIMU website and the information management services that support their work. These services are also provided to humanitarian and development working groups. The dedicated pages include a public version and a restricted version to enable secure hosting and sharing of Cluster resources with members and stakeholders. Embedded dashboards can be hosted and password-protected. Mapping services are available, and Cluster members can request customised maps using their own data with assurance of strict data security. Last but not least, we offer dedicated trainings to Cluster members and they are also included in MIMU’s regular trainings.
Education Cluster
In addition to documents such as Cluster Strategy and contact info, the page hosts 2 dashboards.
Food Security Cluster
This page is hosted on the global Food Security Cluster website and includes an overview of People in Need and funding, as well as contact information, documents, maps, and infographics. While not hosted on MIMU, it is prominently linked on the MIMU home page.
Health Cluster
The Health Cluster page on MIMU is regularly updated, hosting monthly Health Cluster Bulletins and IEC (Information, Education, and Communication) materials, including resources on seasonal risks (e.g., Monsoon Season Preparedness).
Nutrition Cluster
The monitoring dashboard was recently updated to cover progress in the first half of 2025. A dedicated 2025 Earthquake section hosts partner resources such as situation reports and relevant IEC materials (e.g., Standard Operational Guidance on Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E)).
Protection Cluster
Protection Cluster consists of three AoRs.
  • Child Protection: Monitoring dashboards for 2024 and 2025, plus tips and key messages on child protection in conflict and disaster contexts.
  • Gender-based Violence: Documents + useful info and key messages on child protection in conflict and disaster contexts.
  • Mine Action: The AoR page is not yet hosted on MIMU; discussions are underway with focal persons. In the meantime, the Mine Action Sector/Thematic page is active and includes, among other resources, MIMU’s annual collaborative infographic with the International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL).
Shelter/NFI/CCCM Cluster
Following the March 2025 earthquake, the page hosts guidance notes and SOPs on emergency shelter and cash-based interventions for Shelter and NFI.
WASH Cluster
Public monitoring resources include 4W analysis snapshots. The page also hosts relevant IEC materials, including those on Acute Watery Diarrhea.
Early Recovery Cluster
The Early Recovery Cluster was activated in response to March 28 2025 Earthquake.
Cross-Cutting Issues and Working Groups
MIMU also hosts pages for working groups operating within the Cluster System. Public pages are available for:

This week, on International Youth Day (12 Aug 2025), UNDP Myanmar released the first report in UNDP’s Myanmar Youth Series examines migration intentions, reasons, and possible consequences. Drawing on the voices of more than 7,000 youth nationwide, the findings reveal that 4 in 10 would migrate if given the chance, and that those with higher education are most likely to consider leaving. The report offers rare, data-driven insights to better understand the realities facing Myanmar’s next generation and to guide programmes in responding effectively.

The World Food Programme (WFP) is urgently calling for more humanitarian support in Rakhine State, where a deadly combination of conflict, blockades, and funding cuts is driving a dramatic rise in hunger and malnutrition. In central Rakhine, the number of families not able to afford to meet basic food needs has reached 57%, up from 33% in December 2024. It is expected that the situation in northern Rakhine is much worse due to active conflict and access issues.

WFP is urgently calling on the international community to step up with increased humanitarian funding, and for authorities on the ground to allow unimpeded humanitarian access. WFP requires USD 30 million to assist 270,000 people in Rakhine for the next six months.

OCHA Myanmar, in collaboration with the Inter-Cluster Coordination Group and UN agencies, has released the update No. 48, covering humanitarian developments up to 14 August 2025. Here are some of the highlights.

  • Worsening protection environment in conflict-affected areas: Escalating violence across Myanmar is driving severe protection risks, with civilians increasingly caught in the crossfire.
  • Monsoon floods hit multiple states and regions: Since early July, heavy rains have triggered widespread flooding and landslides across Bago Region and the states of Kayah, Kayin, Kachin, Mon, Rakhine, and Shan.
  • Earthquake response and early recovery efforts: Humanitarians have reached nearly 1.3 million people affected by the 28 March earthquakes.
  • The dire consequences of underfunding
  • The vital support empowering landmine survivors

This week, WFP’s Advanced Disaster Analysis & Mapping (ADAM) system updated two key resources to support the flood emergency in Myanmar.

MIMU has been providing dedicated webpage service for clusters and areas of responsibility (AoRs) to share their key resources.

This week, the Nutrition Cluster and Child Protection AoR released updated progress dashboards that track achievements against the indicators in the Myanmar Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) 2025.

Despite significant funding challenges, only about 10 percent of the Nutrition Cluster’s required budget has been covered so far, these groups have been working hard, with the Nutrition Cluster already reaching 31 percent of its targeted population.

The humanitarian community in Myanmar has established the ERP WG in an effort to reinforce its readiness to respond flexibly to a range of potential hazards despite these new uncertainties.

The ERP WG provides a platform for stakeholders (including CSOs, international and national NGOs, the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement and UN agencies,) to jointly prepare for effective and efficient humanitarian responses to potential future hazards affecting Myanmar, mitigate the impact of disasters and save as many lives as possible from preventable causes.

To that end, this dedicated page on the MIMU website will serve as the central hub to support the Working Group’s coordination, planning, information sharing, and advocacy at both national and local levels.

Effective monitoring of water levels, whether for rivers or man-made water retention structures like dams, is important for flood preparedness and response, particularly during Myanmar’s monsoon season. The newly launched Dam Water Level Dashboard by Myanmar Geoinformatics Society complements the River Water Level Dashboard and provides an interactive way to monitor the current status and short-term trends of water levels across dams countrywide.
