Accountability to Affected People (AAP)
Humanitarian organizations are accountable for their work in several ways, including the people we serve. Affected people have the right to:
- Information: what assistance is available, who is eligible, how to apply for it, what they are entitled to, when and where and how to obtain the assistance, and what to do if they wish to communicate with a humanitarian organization
- Participation: diverse groups within the affected population (age, gender, ethnicity, disability, etc) participate in decision making over how they are assisted, and across the programming cycle
- Feedback and complaints: avenues to share positive and negative feedback and raise complaints about humanitarian assistance, including the behaviour of humanitarian actors
